About The Author
Reading and writing has always been a passion of mine, even while building a career as a full-time dentist. I grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, but now call Austin, Texas home. Life is joyfully chaotic with my husband, our daughter Amal, and dog Rio.
The idea for this book came to me when we brought Amal home from the hospital to meet our two dogs at the time (RIP Bella!). Watching that first introduction, the curiosity, the nerves, and the love, made me realize how many families go through that same moment when their fur babies meet their human babies.
That moment inspired me to finally write the story I’d always dreamed of, one about family, change, and the beautiful chaos that comes with it all. I teamed up with an amazing illustrator in Pakistan, where my husband’s family is from, and this dream came to life.
When I’m not in the office or chasing after Amal and Rio, you’ll find me doing Pilates, reading, trying new Austin restaurants, or spending time outside with my family. I’m so excited to share this story, and many more to come, with families who’ve felt that same mix of wagging tails, tiny cries, and big love.
